Intro
- Prayer is simply communing with God.

- How do I pray for myself? The prayer of Jabez
- 1 Chronicles 4:9-10
- Ezra writing out the names of 407 people.
Sermon
- Jabez (Hebrew for pain) was more honorable than his brothers (honorable meant literally a big baby)
- He prayed: Bless me, enlarge my border, keep me from harm. God
- God intervenes when you intercede.
- (When you engage him into your life, he engages your life.)
Three things to pray for yourself:
- Pray to be blessed
- Genesis 1:22
- Luke 24:50-52: Jesus lifted His hands and blessed them so they could get over their sadness and extend His kingdom.
- God is ready to bless: ask for it.
- Pray to prosper
- Enlarging of provision is from God (not to be confused with the prosperity gospel)
- Psalm 90
- Proverbs: there is wealth that comes from God that He adds no sorrow to.
- Isaiah 60:5
- He is the God of more than enough.
- Prospered by God to provide provision for the vision.
- Are you able to be trusted with prosperity? If so, pray for it.
- Pray for protection
- That Your hand will be on me and keep me from harm
- The Lords hand is what guides us and keeps us from trouble.
- John 17:15
