I am slowly transferring my sermon notes to this webpage to make them more accessible.
What is worship?
- Luke 19
- 68 people baptized last weekend đ±
- Weâve lost it, aka banana duck tape sold for $6m
- Godâs value and greatness is not dependent on our worship
- What we are willing to sacrifice reveals to ourselves how valuable we think He is
- Worship has to entail sacrifice
- When we sacrifice our time, thatâs worship
- Worship should increase always, in the peaks and valleys of life
What is worship?
- the act of showing great respect, love, or devotion to something or someone.
- A present expression of a heavenly reality.
Why do we worship?
- It renews our mind and our thoughts
- Psalm 13:1-6 (âI donât know if you just saw that but it was almost schizophrenicâ)
- We have all been there.
- Itâs okay to feel doubt, fear and anxiety but itâs not okay to stay there or let those feelings lead you. Bring them to The Lord.
- Donât let our feelings lead us, let The Lord lead our feelings.
- Worship establishes confidence in God
- Psalm 56:1-4
How do we worship?
- What we think worship should look like is dependent on how we were raised and what we were exposed to.
- Worship is about Jesus, when someone begins to steal the attention (intentionally or not) a line has been crossed
- We sing praises to Him (Psalms, etc.)
- Not suggested, itâs commanded
- We worship with instruments
- Clapping is an act of praise
- Bowing is an act of worship (there is something powerful in this posture, itâs complete surrender)
- Raising our hands is an act of worship
